Postpartum Care & Ayurveda
Presented by Heather Burkart CAP, CPT, RYT
Ayurveda is one of the oldest holistic medicine systems with roots in India that’s still practiced today. It strongly believes in “mothering the mother.” This is clearly demonstrated in the postpartum care practice that has been handed down for generations. As Ayurveda has spread over recent years, this practice is now shared the world over.
The main principle is to protect the health of the mother and infant with preventative care measures. It's said that doing this for the first 42 days sets the foundation for a healthy, happy life for both the mother and child for the next 42 years.
CARE Network members will learn about:
* A healing whole foods diet and herbs that nourish the mother’s body and support lactation.
* A system of gradual reintroduction of foods that protects her from indigestion and decreases colic in her newborn.
* Daily self-care practices that strengthens her body and calm her nervous system, which decreases risk of postpartum mood disorders
