WHAT: The Night Carnival
WHEN: Saturday, September 16, 4:00PM — 11:00PM
WHERE: Garden Park, 821 E. Locust St., Milwaukee, WI, 53212
WHO: Teatro di Affetto
For one night only, The Night Carnival will descend upon Milwaukee from the Floating City for an evening of surreal, immersive theater hosted by Teatro di Affetto.
During the waning days of summer, on September 16, Riverwest’s Garden Park will be transformed into a whimsical living stage where costumed performers and interactive set pieces will transport visitors to a magical land of enchantment, mysticism, and merriment.
Emerging from the Floating City, a menagerie of clockwork beasts gain sentience, alchemists and time-shifting mystics practice their arts, and bewildering future creatures make their lives.
The Night Carnival attractions will include performances by MKE Puppet Theatre, a troupe of traveling fire-dancers, mesmerizing bellydancers, wandering minstrels, and artisan vendors.
In support of The Night Carnival, the Riverwest Public House will host an outdoor beer garden featuring local brews, and Little Havana food truck will offer their renowned Cuban provisions.
Upon conclusion of The Night Carnival, the Riverwest Public House will host Night Carnival After Party Burlesque Extravaganza, an after-party featuring a bawdy burlesque extravaganza, starting at 11:00PM ($10 at the door, 21 +)
Teatro di Affetto and The Night Carnival embrace radical vulnerability, create magic in an ordinary world, and inspire audiences to embody resistance and enact liberation.
The world of The Night Carnival originated in a soon-to-be-released multi-author piece of short fiction published by Vegetarian Alcoholic Press.
The Night Carnival is free for all ages from 4:00pm — 6:00pm and free for mature audiences after 6:00pm. All performers are volunteers and will gladly accept tips. All vendors have generously agreed to donate 20% of their profits to the Milwaukee IWW General Defense Committee.
Pre-performances: Transmissions from the Floating City: September 12, at 8:00pm, Reception and Art Showing, RW Public House.
