NEWaukee is excited to announce it will be a mega-table host for the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s On the Table community conversations. On the Table will elevate civic conversation, foster new relationships and inspire action for the benefit of greater Milwaukee.
What is On the Table:
Thousands of people will gather throughout the region on October 17 for breakfast, lunch or dinner to put ideas and discussion literally On The Table. When people share a meal together, engage in meaningful conversation including listening and learning from one another, we have the power to impact lives and whole communities.
You are invited to join NEWaukee’s community dinner in the Rotunda of City Hall. Our table will be set for any and all guests interested in individual and collective discussion about improving the quality of life in our community. This is your chance to break bread with friends both new and old while building relationships and generating ideas that move our community forward. As you prepare to participate, consider how diverse perspectives could invigorate dialogue at your table and challenge yourself to meet someone new.
There will be a variety of food options available for purchase. Not hungry but feeling chatty? Pull up a chair and share your brilliant ideas with the table! On the Table has the potential to accelerate our community’s progress.
Please RSVP so we can ensure that every dinner guest is accounted for!
What are some topics that will be discussed?
What you discuss at your table is completely up to you, and any topic that advances us toward a more vibrant region is welcome. At the same time, we challenge you to consider the current conditions of our community.
Our region’s growing diversity is a significant strength, and it will be a competitive advantage for our shared future. In large part, our region offers a remarkable quality of life; however, for far too many people, opportunity for economic, social and civic participation is out of reach.
In areas such as income, incarceration and entrepreneurship, we face significant disparities based on race and ethnicity. Moreover, these disparities are often more pronounced here than in similar regions. Achieving our shared goal of a thriving region will require building upon the strength of our diversity while ensuring that race and ethnicity are never barriers to all people reaching their full potential.
