1923-1935 Johnson Smith Company, seller of whoopee cushions, joy buzzers, itching powder and more (even exotic animals for a time) was headquartered in Racine. Under the leadership of founder Alfred Johnson Smith the company thrived, even during the Great Depression. Join us as local historian Stan Timm shares the remarkable story of the company along with select items from his amazing collection of gags, gifts and novelties from a bygone era, which have been featured at Racine Heritage Museum.
