THE LIFE AND DEATH OF KING JOHN is the story of a self-centered man-child, a demagogue in control of the world as we know it. France has raised an army and marches for English shores to put Arthur, King John's nephew, in the English throne. Meanwhile, Pope Innocent III has sent Cardinal Pandaulph to pit the superpowers against each other, hoping to turn a profit on the ensuing war. Many of John's noblemanare already skeptical of his ability to lead, so Pandulph and France wait for John to make a mistake so egregious that even his most loyal friends turn away in disgust. Unaware of (or indifferent towards) their distrust, John seems to live in his own reality. When the fate of the world depends on his words and actions, his character becomes the subject of controversy. He's impulsive, unpredictable, and desperate for attention; perhaps we should instead worry about the day that John decides he doesn't like being a puppet…

Voices Found's mission is to create theatre that unifies its audience; to develop a common artistic vocabulary and allow artists to work, learn, and play together; to establish and uphold an inclusive safe space for exploration, communication, and empathy. We will host an art gallery on opening night, featuring work by artists of all mediums and backgrounds commenting on themes of the show, but also on what it means to call yourself an artist in 2017 America. We live in an ugly time of history, but if there's one thing Shakespeare had to say about ugliness, it's that it will pass. Voices Found is proud to be a platform for new work, and he gallery will be a celebration of the beautiful things we can make.
